Plenty to see and do….

 

Enjoy the tranquillity of this quiet corner in the Charente Maritime, ideally situated for sightseeing or just relaxing.

 

Many places of interest are close by.

· 8 minutes to Jonzac, a thermal town popular for its ‘cures’ in troglodyte caves, and its exciting swimming complex ‘Les Antilles’.

· 10 minutes to Montendre, which hosts a large market on Thursday mornings and night market on Tuesday evenings in July and August.

· 30 minutes to Blaye famous for its citadel designed by Vauban, the site of a fortification since the 17th century, and bustling markets on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. The ferry (bac) crosses the Estuary to the Medoc, where you can visit many famous chateaux such as Margaux and Giscours.

· 40 minutes to Cognac. Well worth a visit, if not for a distillery tour then for the wonderful character of this famous town with its music festivals and riverside setting.

· 40 minutes to the picturesque Estuary villages of Talmont and Meschers.

· 50 minutes to Royan, one of the most popular resorts on the west coast of France, with its wide sandy beaches, port and restaurants

· 60 minutes to Bordeaux, capital of the Gironde department. This beautiful city, full of historic architecture mingling with modern shops and restaurants, can be visited on the ultra modern tram system. 

· 70 minutes to St Emilion. For wine lovers, say no more.

In the vicinity are many local producers of the regional aperitif, Pineau des Charentes.

 

Just relax in our gardens, have a game of boules, or go for walks in the surrounding countryside. There is a large network of small country roads and rural tracks close by, bordered by vineyards and sunflowers.
